Avalyn is a coach, consultant and firm believer in the path less taken.
Starting her career as a lawyer in Singapore in 2000, she realised quickly that this wasn’t the career of her dreams. Leaving legal practice behind, she honed her sales skills as a headhunter and built her communication and branding muscles, working agency-side for brands including Evian, Procter & Gamble (SK-II), Standard Chartered Bank, EMC Corp and Club Med.
She has also worked in financial services, managing B2B partnerships, sales and customer service teams for American Express multi-currency Centurion cards, overseeing 17 key Private Bank partnerships across Asia Pacific and a multi-million dollar sales portfolio.
In 2012, she pursued her Executive MBA in INSEAD (France, Abu Dhabi, Singapore) and Tsinghua School of Economics & Management (China), a move she now reflects as her own midlife and mid-career crisis. During this period of personal and professional upheaval, she knew that the corporate path was no longer what she wanted, and made the tough decision to go down a less conventional career path.
She has since worked in several start-ups overseeing global expansion and e-commerce platforms, managing product development and brand stewardship. Her portfolio (multiple-path) career then took shape - international research projects; consulting start-ups on organisational culture; Executive Coach to Founder/CEOs.
Avalyn now coaches senior executives on authentic leadership, career transitions and career identity. She is also a coach on the MBA, Executive MBA and Online Programs at INSEAD - Business School for the World.
Married to Dany, another lawyer-turned-entrepreneur, and mom to three (very vocal) tween/teens, Avalyn spends time between Singapore and Auckland.
